Minetek have recently completed a project for Goldfields Western Australia. This innovative and tailored solution is the first fan of this size and technology to be installed in Australia.

The full scope of removal of redundant equipment, installation of new fans and commissioning was achieved within 4 days, with all Minetek staff working around the clock to ensure project goals were delivered. There are two fans now in operation at Agnew with three additional fans currently being installed at a neighbouring Goldfields mine site.
The fans at Agnew are operating above and beyond expectations, which can be attributed to the exceptional effort by Goldfields, Barminco and the Minetek project and engineering team.

Key Features of the fans:

  • POD – “Performance on Demand” vane inlet controls to adjust vent flow and power usage.
  • Impulse bladed impeller equipment with an anti-stall chamber to ensure optimum fan performance.
  • Each fan is powered by 1100kW/1000V motors (all run off the renewable power station).
  • Maximum airflow capability of 350m³/sec @ 4200kPa (the fans will run at 280m³/sec @ 3700Pa for current production needs).
